Appomattox Superintendent Dorinda Grasty, Radford Superintendent Rob Graham, Montgomery Superintendent Mark Miear, and New Kent Superintendent Dave Myers won full travel scholarships to Helsinki, Finland and Milan, Italy in a national competition sponsored by VASS Senior Associate Partner EF Education First.
Hopewell City Public Schools should increase cafeteria and custodial workers' salaries, among other steps to improve the division's compensation system, a study by the Virginia Association of School Superintendents has found. The study results were presented to the School Board at their March 9 work session and were based on online surveys of and interviews with HCPS employees as well as surveys of school district employees in Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Prince George and Petersburg.

This on-demand service, available to all VASS member divisions, gives superintendents up to two hours of free consultation on a broad range of communication challenges, including bond referendum campaigns, community engagement strategies, publications, Freedom of Information Act requests, crisis responses, speechwriting, and media relations.
