The 2020 VASS Fall Virtual Conference will provide participants with the latest information on state finance and legislation; health, education and labor guidelines; federal regulations; and legal and risk management issues. Please join us on Zoom on Monday, October 19, from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm, for presentations on timely information which will assist you with making the decisions that are critical to the effective management of your school divisions during these challenging times.
In addition to the presentations, superintendents will have opportunities to discuss challenges facing their divisions and to formulate legislative positions for the 2021 Session. The program is designed to foster dynamic engagement among conference participants.
Highlights of the conference include a live address from Governor Northam, General Assembly members’ projections on the 2021 Legislative Session, and a closing keynote on “Harnessing the Power of Technology to Create Equitable Learning” by Nicol Turner Lee, Senior Fellow in Governance Studies and Director of the Center for Technology Innovation at the Brookings Institute.
Dr. Turner is also Co-Editor-In-Chief of TechTank at the Brooking’s Institute where she researches public policy designed to enable equitable access to technology across the U.S. and to harness its power to create change in communities across the world. Her work also explores global and domestic broadband deployment and internet governance issues. She is an expert on the intersection of race, wealth, and technology within the context of civic engagement, criminal justice, and economic development.
VASS is also co-sponsoring another Governor’s Summit this year on the day following the Fall Virtual Conference. This year’s virtual summit, co-sponsored by VASS, VASCD, VADOE and UVA, is on Early Childhood Literacy. It will be held Tuesday morning, October 20. There is no additional charge for superintendents to attend, but a separate registration for the Early Literacy Summit is required.

Conference Fee and Registration for Superintendents and School Division Leaders
The 2020 Fall Virtual Conference fee for superintendents and other school division leaders is $125 per person.
The registration deadline is Friday, October 9.
In the registration form (below), required fields are indicated with a red asterisk. Mistakes made in completing the form will be highlighted in red.
Once you have submitted the registration, the person or people whom you have designated to receive a confirmation email should see that email (with registration information included) within 24 hours.
Pre-Payment is not required. However, if you would like to pay now by credit card or PayPal, you will be provided with a link to the VASS online payment portal after you submit your registration.
If you do not pay by credit card at registration, the person on the registration form whom you have identified as the billing contact will receive an invoice for payment after the conference.
If a purchase order number is provided on the registration form, it will be referenced on the invoice.
Notice of cancellation must be sent by email to Liza Scallet, the VASS Administrative Assistant, by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9 . . . or you will be billed in full.
