VIRGINIA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS

2022 VASS Annual Spring Conference

May 01 - May 03, 2022

Event Details

For the first time in three years, we will be together in person in Roanoke for the VASS Annual Spring Conference.  We will make whatever accommodations are needed to ensure that participants remain healthy and safe, but the VASS Professional Learning Committee and VASS Staff are working hard to ensure that this “reunion” event is entertaining, as well as educational, and engaging for everyone.   With its emphasis on personal wellness and professional support, the Spring Conference will provide you with a number of choices of activities, speakers, and sessions to help with your professional learning as well as your mental well-being.

The conference will introduce the VASS Superintendent Success Initiative, a $190,000 grant project from the Virginia Department of Education, with the goal of providing support for our members which will help reduce the turnover of superintendents in Virginia.  The conference program will feature the presenters, facilitators, and coaches who will be employed courtesy of the grant during the 2022-23 school year to give VASS members the assistance they need to be successful as school division leaders during these challenging times.   The VASS Superintendent Success Initiative has a number of different strategies, many of which will be discussed and demonstrated during the conference.

The theme of this year’s VASS Spring Conference is “Inspiring Positive and Resilient Leadership,” and our goal is give you the opportunity to recharge, refresh, and re-engage in your professional learning.  We hope to see you May 1-3, at the Hotel Roanoke!

The Registration form for Superintendents and other School Division Leaders is at the bottom of this page.

If you represent a business and you would like to attend the conference as a VASS Partner, Sponsor, or Business Affiliate Member, please contact Liza Scallet, the VASS Administrative Assistant, for fee and registration information.

As well as enjoying opportunities to share his positive message through public speaking engagements, Ron is a life-long learner – going back to school in 2020 so he could become a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and he now serves his local community by volunteering on both the Wintergreen Fire & Rescue Squad and the Nelson County Rescue Squad.
